昭和29年（1954年）創業。2022年で68年経過。
名古屋の喫茶店の中でもかなりの老舗なのだろう。
初めて伺ったのは2020年の12月。
この時は時間がなく、ゆっくりできなかった。
エーデルワイスというかわいらしい花の名前の喫茶店なのに、店内には、オリエンタルな像やヘレニズムな像や近代彫刻のような像が立ち並ぶ。
喫茶店と彫像。なんで？
考えてもしょうがないけど、そのごちゃまぜ感が心地よく、改めて伺おうと思っておりました。
2回目は、2022年の夏。
お昼を食べに伺いました。
2回目は店内奥の席へ。
席についてまず驚いたのは、由緒正しいお寺さんにあるような天井画。
おー！スゴイ！
と思ったのだけど、よく見ると描かれているのは熊や魚や野の花で、失礼ながら落書きのような絵というか。。。
しかしながら、下手うまというか。。。
いやでも。
ゆっくり見てるとけっこうポップで可愛らしい。
それもアリか。という絵で。
天井画のフレームのフォーマル感からすると、絵のポップさがアンマッチで面白い。
どうも、1966年頃に画家さんに描いてもらったものらしい。
何にせよ、喫茶店に彫像がいくつも並び、ポップアートな天井画まであるとか。
ファンキーでいいですね。
ランチはオムライスをいただきました。
「そんなのボクでも作れるぜ！」
というくらいの仕上がり感が、昭和喫茶な雰囲気を盛り上げてくれてナイス。
そして、ライスは当然にケチャップチキンライスだと思っていたら、なんとピラフ。
しかもチャーハンかと思うほどの香ばしさがある。
もはやチャーハンだと言ってもいいのではないか？
いや、しかしボクが勝手にチャーハンだと言ってはいけないような気がする。
これはピラフだ。
ピラフに、ふわっとした薄焼き卵のヴェールを被せ、その上にケチャップを半ば不愛想にかける。
エーデルワイスの人気のオムライスとはこういうことだ。
そして驚くべきことに。
「なんかおいしい」
これが名古屋食文化の底力か。
完全にボクの常識をバッサリ切り捨てられました。
戦で言うならひよどり超えの逆落とし。
桶狭間の信長軍。
この驚きにも等しい衝撃でした。
店内には、ネイティブな名古屋弁で話す営業職らしき先輩サラリーマンと部下らしき方、合計3名が、あっけらかんと大きな声で楽しそうに話しながら、お昼を食べている。
「常滑やと宿直ないでな。」
「えらい（しんどい）です。通勤するんが。」
「うちの会社は8割が植物人間（無気力社員の意味っぽい）で、1割が我が強ぅて。。。」
「ほんで、A3が好きやでな。なんでもA3。それもな。やっぱ仕事に対する情熱やな。」
とりあえず何かをぼやいているが、その表現がオモシロくて、バレないように一人で笑う。
聞こえてくるお話を総合すると、エネルギー関連の会社さんかなと思われる。
会社の悲喜こもごもを、いくらか自虐的に笑い飛ばしながら、また新しい仕事に向かうサラリーマン。
そうこうするうちに、平成生まれの20才前後の昭和喫茶好き系女子がひとりでやってきた。
店内に彫刻が立ち並んだり、ファンクな天井画があったりするごちゃまぜ感。
そして、雑多に人が集まり、交錯するのが昭和喫茶の楽しい所なんだと思う。

素晴らしい喫茶店です。
Founded in 1954. 68 years have passed in 2022.
It is probably one of the oldest coffee shops in Nagoya.
The first time I visited was in December 2020.
I didn’t have time and couldn’t relax.
Even though it’s a coffee shop named after a cute flower called edelweiss, there are oriental statues, Hellenistic statues, and modern sculpture-like statues lined up inside the shop.
A coffee shop and a statue. why?
I can’t help but think about it, but the mixed feeling was comfortable, and I thought I’d ask again.
The second time will be in the summer of 2022.
I visited for lunch.
For the second time, go to the seat in the back of the store.
The first thing that surprised me when I sat down was the ceiling painting that looks like something you would find in a historic temple.
Oh! great!
That’s what I thought, but if you look closely, you’ll see bears, fish, and wildflowers. . .
However, I’m not good at it. . .
No.
If you look at it slowly, it’s pretty pop and cute.
A new and innovative meeting is the expression.
Judging from the formal feeling of the frame of the ceiling painting, the pop of the painting is unmatched and interesting.
It seems to have been drawn by a painter around 1966.
Anyway, the coffee shop is lined with statues and even has a pop art ceiling painting.
It’s funky and nice.
I had omelet rice for lunch.
“Even I can make that!”
It’s nice to have a sense of finish that will liven up the Showa cafe atmosphere.
And when I thought rice was naturally ketchup chicken rice, it was pilaf.
Moreover, it has a fragrance that makes you think it is fried rice.
Can’t you say it’s fried rice anymore?
No, but I feel like I shouldn’t say it’s fried rice without permission.
This is pilaf.
The pilaf is covered with a fluffy veil of thinly-baked eggs, and ketchup is half unfriendly poured over it.
Edelweiss’ popular omelet rice is like this.
And surprisingly.
“I don’t know why, but it’s delicious.”
This may be the underlying strength of Nagoya food culture.
My common sense was completely cut off.
In terms of battle, it’s a reverse drop that surpasses the bulbul.
Nobunaga’s army appeared in Okehazama during a guerrilla downpour.
It was a shock equal to this surprise.
Inside the restaurant, a senior office worker who seems to be a salesperson who speaks in a native Nagoya dialect, and a subordinate who seems to be a subordinate, are eating lunch while chatting openly and happily.
“In Tokoname, there is no night watch.”
“It’s painful. I have to commute.”
“In our company, 80% of the people are lethargic and 10% of the people are bullish…”
“And I like A3 size. Everything is A3 size.
They were mumbling something, but their expression was funny, so I laughed to myself so that they wouldn’t notice.
From what I hear, it seems to be an energy-related company.
A salaryman heading to a new job while laughing off the joys and sorrows of his company somewhat masochistically.
In the meantime, a Showa cafe-loving girl around 20 years old who was born in the Heisei era came alone.
There are sculptures lined up in the store, and there is a funky ceiling painting, and it feels like a mess.
And I think the fun part of Showa cafes is the miscellaneous people gathering and mingling.
