#556 coffee 財津 (Hita)

大分県日田市。イメージは日田の天領水くらいしかない。
日田市内に「夜明」というロマンチックな駅があったので、旅のついでに歩いてみることにした。

肌寒い春先の夕暮れ。伺ったカフェはcoffee 財津。
住宅をカフェに改造したようなカフェ。
シニア夫婦で切り盛りしている。
靴を脱ぐスタイルだったので、お宅カフェとでも言おうか。
顔見知りの方が訪れるようだ。
コーヒーといちごのロールケーキを頼んだ。
ロールケーキがおいしくてちょっと驚いた。

江戸時代初期から江戸幕府の直轄領として栄えてきた日田。
豆田町エリアは、白壁の旧家が建ち並び、かつての繁栄を感じさせる。
なんでもないような町をわざわざ散策するのは面白いと思っているが、そういう趣味は多数派ではないらしい。
しかしボクは楽しい。

行った時は、「天領日田おひなまつり」の頃で、年中行事が催されていた。
豆田町で「おきあげ雛」という押し絵のひな人形の展示を見た。
歴史物語の教育を兼ねて、各家々で作っていたもので、筑後川流域で広がった独特のひな人形に触れた。
なぜこのエリアに。不思議で面白い。
この時期になると、各家々に残っているおきあげ雛を飾って見せてくれるようだ。
高知県香南市の土佐赤岡絵金祭りのことを思い出した。
あの祭りも、家々に伝わる芝居絵屏風を年に一回披露してくれるお祭りだ。
生命感溢れる屏風絵を、妖艶に堪能させてくれる素晴らしいお祭りだ。

豆田町の旭饅頭という饅頭屋さんの「元祖栗そば饅頭」が美味しくて驚いた。
市内を東西に流れる三隈川は随分な大河だ。
進撃の巨人の作者、諫山創氏の故郷は日田だ。
日田やきそばというローカル焼きそばが根付いていた。
有名チェーンは「想夫恋（そふれん）」というお店。
夕食に食べてみた。驚くほどのおいしさではないが、美味しかった。
夜明駅で夜明を迎えるなんてことは、恐らく今後の生涯でないだろう。

すっかりカフェの話しが少なくなったが、カフェを探すと町をうろうろすることになり、いくらかでもその町の事を知れる。
日田は存外に楽しい町だった。

There was a romantic station called “Yoake” in Hita city, so I decided to walk there while traveling.

A chilly early spring evening. The cafe we visited is Coffee Zaitsu.
A cafe that looks like a house remodeled into a cafe.
It is run by a senior couple.
It was a style where you take off your shoes, so let’s call it a home cafe.
A familiar face seems to be visiting.
I ordered a coffee and a rolled strawberry roll cake.
I was a little surprised that the roll cake was delicious.

Hita has flourished as a territory under the direct control of the Edo Shogunate since the early Edo period.
The Mamedamachi area is lined with white-walled old houses, and you can feel the prosperity of the past.
I think it’s interesting to go out of my way to stroll around a town that seems like nothing, but that kind of hobby doesn’t seem to be in the majority.
But I am having fun.

When I went there, it was around the time of the “Tenryo Hita Ohinamatsuri”, and an annual event was being held.
In Mamedamachi, I saw an exhibition of hina dolls called “Okiage Hina”.
Each family made their own Hina dolls, which served as an education about historical stories.
Why in this area? strange and interesting.
At this time of year, each house seems to display the dolls that remain in the house.
It reminded me of the Tosa Akaoka Ekin Festival in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture.
That festival is also an annual festival where you can see the screens that have been handed down from generation to generation.
It is a wonderful festival where you can bewitchingly enjoy the lifelike paintings on the folding screen.

I was surprised at how delicious the “Original Chestnut Soba Manju” from a manju shop called Asahi Manju in Mamedamachi was.
The Mikuma River, which runs through the city from east to west, is quite large.
Hita is the hometown of Hajime Isayama, creator of Attack on Titan.
Local yakisoba called Hita yakisoba has taken root.
The famous chain is a shop called “Sofuren”.
I tried it for dinner. It wasn’t amazingly delicious, but it was delicious.
It probably won’t be the rest of my life to greet the dawn at Dawn Station.

I talk less and less about cafes, but when I look for cafes, I end up wandering around the town, and I get to know a little bit about the town.
Hita was an unexpectedly fun town.
