#550 たかばたけ茶論 (Nara)

志賀直哉旧居の隣。立派な土壁が周囲を囲む。
さぞ裕福な家系の邸宅なのだろうと思っていたら、カフェの表示に目が留まる。

開店と同時に中に入ると、広大な敷地にカフェ小屋がひとつ。
落ち葉と枯れ枝の冬の風情はまるで絵画だ。

高齢のマダムが一人でやっている。客はボクひとり。
必然いくらか言葉を交わす。

聞けば洋画家の中村一雄氏の奥さまでらっしゃる。
もう41年このカフェをやっている。
子どもが大きくなると、庭を持て余し、それで、カフェを始めた。
主人や周囲に相談したら、反対されるに決まっているので、自分で考えて、決めて始めたの。
そう語るマダム。
チャーミングな方だと思った。

カフェ小屋の外には、広い庭を贅沢に使ったゆったりテラス席がいくつもある。
深緑の季節はきっと最高だろう。
閑静な住宅街で景観地区ゆえ、騒がしさもなければ無粋なものも視界には入らない。
ここでは、芸術家や文化人が集まることもしばしばとのこと。

絵描の暮らしの糧についても少し伺った。
芸術家には後見人たる理解者を。
この原則は今も昔も変わらないのだと思った。

今回の奈良カフェ巡りで、最後にこんなカフェに出会えたのは幸運でした。

When I entered the store at the same time as it opened, there was one cafe hut on the vast site.
The winter atmosphere of fallen leaves and dead branches is like a painting.

Elderly Madam is doing it alone. I am the only customer.
Inevitably exchange some words.

She is still behind the Western-style painter Kazuo Nakamura.
She has been running this cafe for 41 years.
When her child grew up, she left behind a garden, so she started a cafe.
She said she decided to start this cafe because she decided to oppose it when she consulted with her husband and others.
I thought she was a charming person.

Outside the cafe hut, there are a number of spacious terrace seats that use the large garden luxuriously.
The dark green season is surely the best.
It’s a quiet residential area and it’s a landscape district, so it’s not noisy and you can’t see anything ingenious.
Artists and cultural figures often gather here.

I also asked a little about the livelihood of painting.
An understanding person who is a guardian for an artist.
I thought this principle was the same now and in the past.

I was fortunate to meet such a cafe at the end of this Nara cafe tour.
