#495 びざん (Tokushima)

昭和2年創業。間もなく100年になる老舗喫茶店。

徳島市内を一望できる眉山（びざん）という山があります。
夜景や初日の出が楽しめる、徳島のシンボルのような山だそうです。
札幌でいうと藻岩山のような山なのかな。
店名が「びざん」なので眉山と関係あるのでしょう。

徳島の喫茶店としては老舗中の老舗で、地元のカフェ雑誌では「徳島喫茶店の草分け」と紹介されていました。
創業当時は「アメリカ食堂」という名前でレストランをやっていたが、日本が戦争へと向かう機運から名前を変えるように言われ「Cafe Bizan」に。
その後一時、麻雀店期間を経て純喫茶になったという経緯だそうです。

商店街立地のフツーの喫茶店なのですが、昭和感満載で味わい深過ぎる喫茶店です。
壁も天井も。長年のヤニが沁みつき。
床のウッドタイルのワックスは既に剥げ落ち、マットな質感に変わり、タイルの間には隙間が出来ている。
老マスターの珈琲を淹れる所作は、それ自体がやすらぎだ。
玉子サンドは関西風の玉子焼きサンドだ。
「bizan」とプリントされたコーヒーカップはスマートでカッコイイ。

Founded in 1927. A long-established coffee shop that will soon be 100 years old.

There is a mountain called Bizan that overlooks the city of Tokushima.
It is said to be a mountain like the symbol of Tokushima where you can enjoy the night view and the first sunrise.
In Sapporo, it would be Mt. Moiwa.
The store name is “Bizan”, so it may have something to do with Mt. Bizan.

Bizan is the long-established king of coffee shops in Tokushima, and was introduced in a local cafe magazine as “the pioneer of Tokushima coffee shops”.
At the time of its founding, the restaurant was run under the name “American Cafeteria”, but because the relationship between Japan and the United States deteriorated, it was requested to change the name, so it was changed to “Cafe Bizan”.
After that, it was once open as a mahjong shop, but after that, it became a pure coffee shop.

Bizan is an ordinary coffee shop located in a shopping district, but it is a nice coffee shop full of Showa era taste.
The walls and ceiling are infused with nicotine, a long-standing cigarette.
The wax on the wood tiles on the floor has already peeled off, the surface has changed to a matte texture, and there are gaps between the tiles.
The act of the old master brewing coffee is a peace of mind in itself.
Egg sandwich is a Kansai-style omelet sandwich.
The coffee cup printed with “bizan” is smart and cool.
