札幌市南区。真駒内滝野霊園。文字通り霊園です。
ここには「頭大仏」と呼ばれる大仏があります。
元々「御霊供養大仏」としてあった大仏ですが、霊園開園30周年事業として、大仏を取り囲む大仏殿が作られたことをきっかけに「頭大仏」と呼ばれるようになりました。
その大仏殿を設計したのが、安藤忠雄氏。2016年に完成。
緩やかなラベンダーの丘が大仏を取り囲むように造られ、大仏の頭がだけが見える。
不思議で、そんな大仏の景色は初めて目にする光景です。
大仏に通じる通路の前に水庭が設けられ、大仏空間と世俗の空間を繋ぐ領域として機能しているように思います。
大仏殿全体が美術館のような空間で、ステキだなぁと思っていたら、安藤忠雄氏による設計だったと知り、納得。
そして、水庭の脇にあるのがロタンダカフェです。もちろん安藤氏の設計です。
美術館などにあるカフェは、可もなく不可もなくな印象で、通常ボクのカフェレポートの対象にはならないのですが、このロタンダカフェはとても素晴らしい空間なので取り上げたいと思いました。
正直言って、カフェ内にあるグッズ販売のショップ機能は不要で、それがある故にカフェとしての統合性はかなり落ちてしまうのですが、カフェ空間そのものは建築美として気持ちのよい空間です。
わざわざ道外からの観光で滝野霊園にいらっしゃる方はいないと思いますが、建築好きな方であれば、こういうった場所はとても興味深く思えると思います。
札幌近辺在住の方も、一度行かれるといいと思います。
ちなみに滝野霊園は霊園なのですが、ある意味オモシロスポットで、園内にはモアイ像が建ち並んだり、ストーンヘンジが作られていたりと、とても懐の深い、寛容な場所です。。。

There is a Greate Buddha called “Hill of the Buddha” here.
The Great Buddha was originally called the “Goryo Memorial Buddha”, but it has come to be called the “Head Great Buddha” when the Greate Buddha Hall surrounding the Great Buddha was built as a project for the 30th anniversary of the opening of the cemetery.
Tadao Ando designed the Great Buddha Hall. Completed in 2016.
A gentle lavender hill surrounds the Great Buddha, and only the head of the Great Buddha can be seen.
Mysteriously, the scenery of such a big Buddha is the first sight to see.
A water garden is set up in front of the passage leading to the Great Buddha, and I think it functions as an area connecting the Great Buddha space and the secular space.
When I thought that the entire Great Buddha Hall was a museum-like space and it was quite nice, I knew that it was designed by Mr. Tadao Ando, and I was convinced that it would be a nice space.
And next to the water garden is the Rotunda Cafe. Of course, it was designed by Mr. Ando.
The cafe in the museum has an impression that it is neither good nor bad, and it is not usually the subject of my cafe report, but this Rotunda cafe is a very wonderful space, so I wanted to take it up.
To be honest, because of the shop function of selling goods in the cafe, the integration as a cafe is considerably reduced, but the cafe space itself is a pleasant space as an architectural beauty.
I don’t think there are any people who come to Takino Reien for sightseeing from outside Hokkaido, but if you like architecture, you will find these places very interesting.
I think that people living near Sapporo should also go there once.
By the way, Takino Reien is a reien, but in a sense it is a funny spot. Moai statues are lined up in the park and Stonehenge is made, making it a very nostalgic and forgiving place.
