#438 喫茶 コモ (Nikko)

アントニン・レーモンド。フランク・ロイド・ライトの弟子。
日本にも数多くの作品を残した建築家。
その彼が設計した、中禅寺湖畔の旧イタリア大使館別荘。
初めてそれを見たのは2013年頃。
写真でその建築の素晴らしさに感動し、行きたい衝動を抱えて数年。

カフェとして過ごせた時間は、涙が出そうなほど、かけがえのないものでした。

10月中旬。標高1200mを超える中禅寺湖周辺は深まる秋の気配。
生憎の雨模様は激しく、震える寒さ。
一番のカフェ体験は、その空間を独り占めすること。
誰もいないイタリア大使館別荘で過ごす時間をと、オープンの朝9時をめがけて訪れました。

居間や縁側のソファにどっかと座る。
誰もいない。
水面に落ちる雨音を聞くように窓越しの中禅寺湖を見つめ続ける。
静寂しか聞こえない。
嗚呼、贅沢。

珈琲をいただくのは休憩室。
特段の特徴はない。テイクアウトスタイルだが。
角2面。ガラス張り。秋の気配。小径を落ち葉が覆い始めている。
嗚呼、贅沢。

感慨無量。
静寂の贅。

静けさはやがて、団体客の訪問でもろくも打ち砕かれましたが。。。
最高のカフェ体験でした。

An architect who has left many works in Japan.
The former Italian embassy villa on the shores of Lake Chuzenji designed by him.
I first saw it around 2013.
I was impressed by the wonderfulness of the architecture in the photos, and had been impressed for several years.

The time spent as a cafe in this space was so irreplaceable that tears were likely to appear.

Mid-October. The area around Lake Chuzenji, at an altitude of over 1200m, has a deep autumn sign.
Unfortunate rain pattern is intense, shivering cold.
The greatest luxury is to occupy the space.
I wanted to spend time at the Italian embassy villa where nobody was there, so I visited it at 9am in the morning.

Sit deeply in the living room or on the veranda sofa.
Nobody is here.
I keep staring at Lake Chuzenji through the window as if listening to the rain.
Only silence around here.
Ah, Supreme time.

It is a break room to have coffee.
Coffee has no special features and is a take-out style.
Two corners. Glazed. Autumn.
Leaves are beginning to cover the small diameter
Ah, Supreme time.

Supreme time…
Supreme silence…

The silence eventually broke down with group visits. . .
However. It was the best cafe experience
